Hotbox is a high school math teacher that started out making beats back in 2002. Although only working with
rap for a few years, Hotbox has been a fan of rap since 1988 and has witnessed it change from a strictly underground genre
into a mainstream lifestyle. For several years Hotbox hosted a hip hop radio show on CHMR MUN radio and this became his first
step in bringing hip hop to St. Johns Newfoundland. He soon purchased an MPC and before long was pounding out beat after beat
whenever he found himself with spare time. After releasing the promotional "Nas vs. Jay-Z" mixtape, he was sought out by local
MCs and started to make his mark on St. Johns hip hop.

first official production release was Hotbox Presents Welcome to Newfoundland, which featured vocals from MCs all over Newfoundland
as well as some from the mainland such as Classified and Spesh K. Months later, Hotbox, along with several other producers
from all over the world, won a remix contest sponsored by Hieroglyphics Imperium record based out of Oakland, CA. Three of
his beats were featured on the Tajai Remix CD and released all over the US. In March 2005, Hotbox and Suave released the compilation
album Cross Country which featured MCs and DJs from all across Canada. The project was ambitious, and while containing a number
of solid tracks, was lengthy, uneven, and generally not well-recieved. Undetered, months later he dropped "The Hotbox Social",
a remix "mixtape" which featured vocals from mainstream rappers like Snoop Dogg, Beanie Sigel, and Busta Rhymes over original
Hotbox production. That project also featured guest vocals from local MCs such as Lee Fitz, Shiest, Radar, Suave and Johnny
Hardcore. Hotbox is currently producing beats for such talents as Jay Bizzy, Bush, Phakt, Element Kontrol, Johnny Hardcore,
and Lee Fitz for all of their upcoming releases. Most recently, the legendary MC Lyte was so impressed with a Hotbox remix
of her new track "The Wonder Years" that she asked him if she could send the track to some mixtape DJ's. The two are currently
working together on some possible tracks on her upcoming album. The new Hotbox album "Frostbite" featuring guests such as
Sean Price and MC Lyte, as well as many local east coast cats is in stores now.
